Question

I noticed a white discharge comes out of my vagina especially immediately after urination, some mild burning in my vulva and bloating. I also have mild cramps and it disappears immediately after defecating, what’s the cause? Grace from University of Ghana.

Answer

You may be having what is termed as vaginitis. It is multi-factorial. The whitish discharge is likely to be due to candidiasis as we have been mentioning in this column. Antifungal which can be Oral,, pessary or cream. You will need to do high vaginal swab for microscopy culture and sensitivity. You have to take a combination of metronidazole, doxycycline and any of the anti-fungal.

Analgesics will be beneficial.
