Question

This is my third pregnancy, I delivered the first through Caesarean section while the second was normal delivery. I am currently thirty weeks pregnant with twin gestation. The doctor said I would be operated on (CS). Can I deliver normally? Why must I pass through CS again. Ngozi, Kano

Answer

There is a dictum that says two obstetrics is equivalent to Caesarean section. Though this dictum is not hundred percent applicable. It it is still relevant nowadays. The twin gestation has its risk while the previous Caesarean section is another obstetric risk.

Concerning twin gestation even if the first twin is cephalic, nobody can predict the position of the second twin which may eventually require manipulation during delivery this is not advisable with previous scar because of the risk of uterine rupture.

I will suggest you listen to the advise of your doctor. It is not that you can not deliver by yourself but nobody knows what risk will actually happen to and life does not have duplicate.
