The two questions are similar. Bad odour is not an uncommon problem . It is also known as halitosis. It affects up to 30% of general population worldwide. The bad breadth could be from the mouth, throat or tonsils. Anaerobuc sulfur producing bacteria has been implicated. Common causes include xerostomia or dry mouth, This could be due to long period of speaking, alcohol or smoking . Foods like onions, garlic, refined processed sugar and coffee among others can make halithosis worse.
Poor dental hygiene which is not likely in these cases, could also be a cause. Allowing plaques to accumulate makes room for bacteria which can cause halitosis. Let me also mention that it is not enough to brush but also using appropriate technique of brushing is important .
Systemic diseases can cause halitosis . These include: diabetes, liver disease, chronic lung diseases, renal diseases and metabolic disorders.
People on medications that can lead to dry mouth are at risk of halitosis. Antidepressants and antihistamines have been implicated .
Steps to take to treat or prevent these include: proper oral care, avoid dry mouth, use of mouth wash and taking dietary supplement like Vitamin C, E, & D.
I will suggest tboth persons visit the dentist for proper examination and treatment
